Almost Done!

We are getting close to finishing our videos! Today we learned about combining videos, detaching audio tracks, making smooth transitions, and trimming clips. Whew! It was a BIG day!

I have reserved the Mac lab for us to use on Sunday at lunch and after school on Monday. Yep--after Unity Day! We will have a little bit of time to put the finishing touches on our projects on Tuesday and Wednesday (depending on when you have my class), but your video should be done at that point. I will be teaching you a few things before publishing, but you will not have time to work on editing pictures, videos, or transitions on that day. So if you need to complete your video, be sure to come in at lunch on Sunday and/or after school on Monday.

You are allowed to read through Chapter 17 of The Giver. DO NOT READ AHEAD! We will try to have a lit group on Tuesday/Wednesday after finishing our videos.

Beginning our Science Fair Autobiography Videos

Today we started working on our Science Fair autobiography videos. We just went over the basics of how to import videos and pictures into imovie. Next class we're going to work on overlaying videos on top of the base video.

I will be staying after school both today (Tuesday) and Wednesday in the Mac lab for anyone who wants to continue to work on their projects. They will be due early next week...so many of you will have to work on the videos outside of class.

Here was a key part of today's lesson:
If you want to put a picture into the video, simply drag it into the "project" area and click "cutaway". This means you will see the picture, but still hear the audio of your base video.

Welcome to the Blog

I'm starting a classroom blog so that we can all connect in an easy format. I'll try to post assignments on here, but I'm not going to promise it. You are still responsible for writing down your homework in class. Mostly I'll be posting what we did in class (in case you missed it) or things that relate to what we're doing in class. Feel free to create an account and comment on the blog if you want.

Happy reading and writing!

Ms. J
